Trip Description
A package in which you and your family members can choose from a wide variety of activities including meditation, sauna, cooking course, golf, soft adventures and enjoy pleasant time in camp fire and sightseeings.
Itinerary
Day 1Arrive in Chiang Mai by air or train and commence your holiday with a transfer to the delightful Suan Bua Resort. The property is on the Samoeng loop, in the foothills to the west of, and just outside the city. Relax around the beautiful and spacious grounds, enjoy a swim, play tennis, or spoil yourself in the resort’s spa.
In the early evening, choose either:
Option 1: Take an early set dinner in the hotel’s pavilion restaurant, followed by a campfire.
Option 2: Take a minibus trip into Chiang Mai to visit the Night Bazaar, dine at your own expense. The minibuses depart at 18:30hrs and there are two return trips, at 21:00 hrs and 24:00 hrs respectively.

Day 2After breakfast, take a direct transfer from Chiang Mai to Ban Tha Ton. En route visit the Orchid and Butterfly Farm, and the Chiang Mai Snake Farm. An additional two rest stops are made along the way to break up the 3 hours journey: One at the Chiang Dao Hill Resort, and another just outside Chaiprakarn. You reach Ban Tha Ton a small village on the banks of the Kok river just before noon. On arrival you check into the Maekok River Village Resort. A buffet lunch (at guest expense) may be taken in the ‘Spice Garden’ restaurant. The afternoon is at leisure, and the full facilities of the resort are available to you. Dinner is at your own expense and can be taken in either of the two restaurants, or in your accommodation.

Day 3After breakfast, there are two options available to you:Option 3.1. For those who just wish to relax, stay at the resort and enjoy our facilities. They also have the option of taking any of our numerous ‘Excursion Tours’ or courses (must be booked in advance and are at guest own expense – see ‘Excursion Tours’ from Mae kok River Village Resort).
Activities include: Golf, day walks, treks, rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting, 4WD tours, map reading & GPS navigation courses, jeep hire, rock climbing wall, cooking, massage, and meditation courses.

Option 3.2. A 2 days and 1 night river trip with an overnight stop in our river base camp.
Depart Ban Thaton by vehicle accompanied by an English speaking guide to visit Shan & Akha villages.
Board our customized river barges in the Ban Pha Tai Black Lahu village and raft down river through stunning scenery. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a shaded river bank spot and then continue down river through one or two ‘light’ rapids. Canoes are carried on board for those who wish to use them.
On arriving at the forestry research station, begin an (optional) mini trek of 1.5 hrs to a Musur village then continue on to our river base camp for an overnight stop.

Accommodation is in basic bamboo bungalows overlooking the river. Proper mattresses, bedding, pillows and mosquito nets, towels and soap are provided. Toilets, in a separate block are European style and there are electric hot water showers.

Dinner is a BBQ served on linen clad trestle tables followed by drinks around the campfire.

Day 4After a full American breakfast, continue rafting down river through gorges and past isolated hilltribe villages. The children in the villages are always keen to wave and excitedly call ‘hello!’ from the banks. The canoes are again available for use if requested. A stop is made at the hot springs. Take a 1.5 hrs Elephant Safari from a point on the river bank that takes you through surrounding jungle, followed by lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch you may choose either of the following two options:
Option 4.1. Board the minibus for a trip up to Mae Sai, the Thai-Burma border market town. Spend a while browsing the market and then travel on to the infamous Golden Triangle. Stop at a restaurant overlooking the river and then return to Chiang Rai airport for the late evening flight to Bangkok.Option 4.2. Those who stayed behind at the Maekok River Village Resort will rejoin the main group on day four.

They have the option of taking:
(a) An early 10:30hrs minibus transfer rejoining the main group at mid-day for option 4.1. Or,
(b) A 19:00hrs minibus transfer rejoining the main group at the airport for the late evening flight to Bangkok.
